We’re hardly done with the weekend’s games, and the midweek’s fixtures are upon us. Games are coming fast and thick as the holiday period gets closer. The start of Gameweek 15 comes just 50 hours after the end of Gameweek 14, and most FPL managers would not want to play around with their teams too much.
It is important to remember not to discard or show wrath towards those who may not have performed well in the previous game, as they may have a very favorable midweek fixture and produce the points you need.
Here are five players to pick for your FPL team this mid-gameweek:
WARNING: Tuesday match means Tuesday deadline; don’t miss it!
1. John Lundstram, (£5.0)
There is no doubt that John Lundstram has been the standout pick in defence in FPL this season. He is the top-scoring defender on 75 points thanks to his role in midfield for the Sheffield United. Over 45.8 percent of managers now own Lundstram, driving his price up by £0.9m since the start of 2019/20.
He has three goals, one assist, and 10 bonus points. Lundstram’s 21-point haul against Burnley in Gameweek 11 is the highest individual return of any player this season.
2. Lys Mousset, (£5.0m)
Lys Mousset has averaged over seven points in his last six gameweeks. This is a striker in form, with four goals in games that were not easy on paper – Arsenal (H), West Ham (A), Burnley (H), Tottenham (A), Manchester United (H), and Wolves (A).
In his past five matches, the Frenchman has racked up five bonus points and three goals and assists each. Sheffield Utd have a great run of fixtures from now until Gameweek 20.
3. Wilfried Zaha, (£6.6m)
The Crystal Palace man has found some form that sees him as a favourable choice, especially since Roy Hodgson’s men have relatively easy fixtures coming up. Wilfred Zaha has scored both of his goals for the season in the last two gameweeks.
He is the third most-bought midfielder, earning over 74,000 new owners for his home match with AFC Bournemouth. That highlights his goal threat ahead of a home match against the Cherries, who have struggled in defence recently.
4. Jamie Vardy, (£9.9m)
A home encounter with Watford, who lie bottom of the table, boosts the chances of Jamie Vardy as the most-selected captain in Gameweek 15. He is in outstanding form as he prepares to face the Hornets, having provided eight goals, three assists and 64 points in Leicester City‘s last six fixtures.
The visitors have the third-worst defensive record in the division and to add to their vacant manager position, are also beset with injuries at the back and in midfield. Leicester will fancy their chances, and any goals are highly likely to involve their talismanic frontman – will it be yet another Vardy party on Wednesday night?
5. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, (£10.9m)
After two gameweeks without a goal, Arsenal captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang returned to the goal trail in style under interim head coach Freddie Ljungberg in Gameweek 14. Aubameyang has the highest reliability percentage, having scored in 10 of his 14 games so far this year.
Arsenal’s opponents, Brighton, have conceded the biggest chances (16) of the other candidates’ opposition. The Seagulls have lost four successive away matches, conceding at least twice each time. Along with Jamie Vardy, Aubameyang appears to be the outstanding captain choice for this midweek gameweek.
