Former Manchester United midfielder Owen Hargreaves has revealed that defending champions Liverpool are favourites to win the UEFA Champions League this season, just ahead of reigning Premier League champions Manchester City and Spanish champions FC Barcelona.
However, Hargreaves believes that a team like Barcelona would have been glad to have avoided Liverpool or Manchester City in the draw.
“I think before everybody wanted to avoid Barcelona and Real Madrid, I think now everybody wants to avoid Liverpool,” he told BT Sport, as reported by Metro.
Not so long ago we were being talked about in a relegation battle, now we are being talked about as favourites for the CL the year after winning, would be our third final in three years and favourites for the PL. Owe Klopp everything. https://t.co/QGBAd1rNiw

He continued, “This team has virtually every style of play necessary and for me they’re the heavy favourites in this competition.”
Revealing his second and third favourites for the Champions League crown, the European champion with Manchester United in 2008 revealed, “I think maybe Barca and Manchester City are just in behind. It’s probably one of the worst teams they could have faced, let’s be honest.”
He further stated as he concluded, “Real Madrid, as everyone knows, is a tough draw. I think City for me they’re the favourite team. Real Madrid with the issues that they have, Man City is an awful draw for them as well. You’d like to get one of the smaller ones and essentially they got the biggest team in it.”
