All four Premier League clubs in the Champions League learned their fate for the first round of knockout ties, with Liverpool, Manchester City, Chelsea and Tottenham paired with opponents for the last 16 that will be played in February and March 2020.
Here’s a breakdown of the dates of when and where each game is being played…
Real Madrid vs Manchester City
First Leg: 26 February 2020, Santiago Bernabeu
Second Leg: 17 March 2020, Etihad Stadium
The pair last faced each other in the Champions League semi-finals in 2015/16, which Real won by a narrow 1-0 aggregate score-line before going on to lift the trophy.
Atletico Madrid vs Liverpool
First Leg: 18 February 2020, Wanda Metropolitano
Second Leg: 11 March 2020, Anfield
This promises to be a difficult tie for Liverpool as they seek to become only the second side in Champions League (post-1992) to successfully retain the trophy.
Chelsea vs Bayern Munich
First Leg: 25 February 2020, Stamford Bridge
Second Leg: 18 March 2020, Allianz Arena
Chelsea won a two-legged Champions League tie against Bayern in 2004/05, as well as beating them on their own turf in the 2012 final. However, Bayern won the last meeting in the 2013 UEFA Super Cup.
Tottenham Hotspur vs RB Leipzig
First Leg: 19 February 2020, Tottenham Hotspur Stadium
Second Leg: 10 March 2020, Red Bull Arena
Tottenham face a brand new opponent in RB Leipzig, who have qualified for the Champions League knockout stages for the first time ever after impressively topping their group.
Spurs have already faced German opposition in Europe this season after losing home and away against Bayern Munich in the group stages. Leipzig should be a more favourable challenge.
